Day 9, Jan. 31, 2006
We painted tonight. Marko worked on the ceiling while I painted the walls green around where the cabinets will go. I'm going to wake up early tomorrow and put a second coat on before work. The kitchen guy will start to put up cabinets tomorrow!!!

Day 7, Jan. 28, 2006
It has been one whole week since we started this project and so far so good. No major problems and everything seems to be going well.
Today was productive! Marko and I pulled out the remainder of lower cabinets and cleaned the old insulation that fell down the wall. Then we sat on our behinds most of the day and scraped the floor. It took us a good 4 hours to get everything up. The kitchen guy came over around 1 p.m. and spent most of his time in the crawl space hooking up a new water supply for the refrigerator. Our dishwasher had been hooked up wrong by the previous owners, so he fixed that while he was down there. He also did some drywall work where the lower cabinets had been.
Tomorrow we will rest with the kitchen and try to catch up on other stuff around the house that we've put off, like lots of laundry and cleaning :(

I'm wearing a mask because the old insulation was floating in the air.

Day 6, Jan. 27, 2006
Today the countertops and sink came out! The Kitchen Guy was going to take out the dishwasher, but the water won't shut off all the way, so he'll have to work on that tomorrow. Take a look at our temporary kitchen! It's no fun trying to cook dinner without a stove, oven, and sink. Good thing the microwave works. Regis is still wondering what's going on.

Day 2, Jan. 23 2006
Eric took down the bulk head today and marked up where our recessed lighting will go. He seems to be very organized and knows his stuff! Our only problem is that Regis, the cat, decided it would be so much fun to jump through the hole in the ceiling and into the attic! After a few minutes of searching I found her up there, now she's locked up and itching like crazy. Hope she learns her lesson, probably not. Anyways, here is a picture without the upper cabinets and the bulk head is gone!

Day 1, Jan 22, 2006
Today was our first day to work on the kitchen. We emptied the top cabinets and moved all our food and dishes to the kichen nook. We'll be using the kitchen nook area for our temporary kitchen right now. Then it was off to disconnect the water supply from the refrigerator. Marko tried to shut of the water for about 20 minutes. He was extremely frustrated, so I offered to help. After a new tool and 30 seconds, I shut off the water.
After the refrigerator dilema, we removed most the upper cabinets. All in all, it was pretty easy, but it looks like there will be old wall paper and flooring to remove. Tomorrow our Kitchen Guy, Eric, will come to remove the bulk head and repair drywall!
The top picture is a before shot of the kitchen. In the second photo, I am closing of the water supply to the refrigerator. MAN, is that refrigerator heavy!
